Setting up your profile fully is important, as it helps people learn about you and gives them content to interact with. Here are some tips for setting up your Facebook profile:
Add
Profile Photo
One of the first things someone will see on your profile is your profile photo. Select a crisp, excellent headshot of yourself. Having a real photo of you on your profile instead than one of an object or cartoon makes it seem more personable and authentic.
Fill
Out Intro Section
The intro section at the top of your profile allows you to highlight basic info like your job, education, relationship status, hometown, etc. Fill this out so people can quickly learn the basics about you.
Share
Bio Info
You can provide information about your hobbies, history, family, and any other aspect of your identity in the bio section. You can choose how much or how little information to offer.
Add
Featured Photos and Videos
The photos and videos sections allow you to share visual content with your connections. Upload albums, profile pictures, or videos you want to showcase. This gives people more content to look through and interact with.
Share
Life Events
Use the life events section to share major events and milestones like marriages, births, new jobs, etc. This helps chronicle your life activities.
Show
Education and Work
Fill out your education and work sections with all schools attended and jobs held. This provides more background on your learning and career.
Link
Other Profiles
You can link profiles from other social networks like Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and more to your Facebook profile. This gives people a more complete view of your overall online presence.
Customize
Public Profile View
Use the public profile setting to customize what people see
when they view your public profile. Adjust if certain sections should be public
or private.
By fully setting up your profile with info, photos, life
events, and other content, you give people plenty to look through when they
visit your profile. This provides a robust view into your life and personality!

someone by name. Their profile may pop up in the results if you're already

can search for friends to add by name, school, workplace, or email

Friend Requests

going to their profile and clicking "Add Friend."

contacts. Facebook will match them with existing members to simplify sending
requests.
- However, always double check before connecting, as some matches may be incorrect.
With hundreds of millions of users, Facebook makes it easy
to expand your network. Focus on quality connections over quantity by
connecting with people you know well first.
News Feed
The list of stories in the center of your homepage that is
always changing is called the News Feed. It shows you posts from friends, Pages
you follow, and groups you've joined.
First thing you see when you log into Facebook is the News
Feed. It provides a personalized collection of updates about people and topics
important to you.
The News Feed uses complex algorithms to determine the
content you see. It considers things like:
- How often you interact with certain friends, Pages, or
groups
- How recent and popular a post is
- What types of posts you usually engage with
Over time, Facebook learns your preferences and shows you
more of what you like to see.
You have some control over what appears in your News Feed. Here are some tips:
Prioritize Who You
See First: You can choose whose posts you want to always see at the top of
your News Feed. Verify that under the "News Feed Preferences" menu,
"Prioritize Who To See First" is chosen.
Unfollow People or
Pages: If you want to stop seeing someone's posts, you can unfollow them.
Their content will no longer show up in your News Feed.
Snooze Keywords:
If certain phrases or topics are bothering you, use the "Snooze"
feature to temporarily hide posts with those keywords.
React to Posts:
Liking, commenting on, and sharing posts helps Facebook understand what you
like. It will then show you more of that type of content.
Adjust News Feed
Settings: Go to "News Feed Preferences" to filter posts based on
date, friends, Pages, and more. You can also reorder the different tabs.
Experiment with your News Feed settings to customize what
you see. Curate a feed that provides the updates, entertainment, and
information you care about.
